Dear Rene,
As far as it is known to me, mainly all Acer, and his sub brand Emachines, also HP and his subbrand Compaq, and also Dell, and many more..brand name computers come with linux preinstalled...on each machine where is linux of some flavour pre-installed ,that machine for sure work out of box with that system ,and with ease and for sure you can change distribution to some other linux, for example Ubuntu...if not came allready with Ubuntu..
Some models from low-end ,and low-mid models come with linux-Ubuntu,like at Acer, but at HP some high-end model come with linux-Open-Suse..but regardless what flavor of linux is installed or certified or not, for sure that means that on particular models you can install any linux, and off course ,Ubuntu...

there is also list of some certified hardwere on Ubuntu page, and on Canonical page..

but if u like to use ubuntu, ican tell u that for Acer, for example travel mate seria in ubuntu have package for after install which make particular seria full work with ubuntu ,i mean even special buttons!

HP,Dell,Acer and many more companies even on own pages have support for linux, and that means for ubuntu too! for drivers for thems even older equipment.

I have a lot of expirience of instalation of Ubuntu and linux in old, older, new, and brand new hardwere, even on handhelds,...game console,etc.. and allways it pass fine...i mean on unsupported hardwere, far away from certified...

But with HP,Dell,Acer you can miss!!(they are certified Ubuntu & Canonical company partners too!)

All that brands,i regulary saw in Central, and South East Europe..

greetings,from Europe,Croatia,Rijeka

Hi!

I have bought a Toshiba Satellite C660/C660B. Impossible to get the touchpad work with ubuntu 10.04; 11.04 or 11.10. No possible help on ubuntuforums, neither in English, French or German! Gnome or KDE - no difference!

So, what will help to program in Python - even with Part 25?
Are there not other problems to be solved first?

My first ubuntu was 5.10 and I had allways computers from Asus.
Meanwhile I have a MacBook Pro, too, just not to get crazy with ubuntu! Are there ubuntu-certified machines on the market for Europe?

With kind regards,

René Gruneisen
