I've been using Unity on Ubuntu 11.04 for three months and have had no problems whatsoever. It is certainly more demanding on the graphics card and I have another, older PC which cannot handle it so that one automatically reverted to Gnome when 11.04 was installed.

It is different from Gnome (the default) and so takes a bit of getting used to but the differences make for a better way of doing things.

I have been a ubuntu user for 3-4 years, and always downloaded every new release with much anticipation. this is the first one I could not stand. I tried both the unity and the gnome 2 setup, and found both to be extremely buggy on my machine. I had issues with everything from my graphics card to wallpaper changers. I could not get any wallpaper changer to work properly (Drapes, Wally and a couple of others.) Cairo Clock would also not work. After a week and a half of trying, I wound up trying a slew of other distro's and finally settled on Debian. My graphics card is relatively new, and works fine with every other distro I tried it with including ubuntu 10.10.
