Full Circle Magazine #69 Audio Edition

Hello World.

And welcome to… oh, this is not the podcast.

But it is our first bold experiment in producing an audio edition of Full Circle Magazine. We decided, after editor Ronnie’s attempt to put the magazine through a screen-reader, that an entire edition sounding like a cross between Stephen Hawking and Donald Duck would be bad for everyone’s sanity.

Somewhat later than billed, you will find here the audio edition of Full Circle Magazine issue 69.

Our thanks go to the volunteers who managed deliver their readings.

So listen, enjoy and do please give us some feedback. Use the magazine website for comments and let us know what you thought of our efforts.

Full Circle Magazine #65 – Some Numbers

With Full Circle #66 out, I thought I’d have a look back at the numbers for Full Circle #65. Not because they’re amazing or scientifically in depth. No, it’s because I’m bored, and it’s been available for over a month.

So, without further ado, here are some completely unscientific numbers:

The Main Site

Obviously most of our downloads come from this here site:

Now, that’s, 14,919 views of the FCM#65 page. That doesn’t include someone, anyone, linking directly to the PDF. You can see the sharp spike when it was released with about 3,500 page views in one day. Just over 2,000 the following day. For the next two weeks the FCM#65 page averaged about 250 page views and for the last two weeks (of this graph) it averaged about 150 page views per day.

For that same time frame the visitors came from:

Issuu

Next on the list is Issuu. It’s only recently that I uploaded the PDF’s to Issuu for viewing online. Last time we put issues up for reading online we got yelled at by many people who thought we were abandoning the PDF download. No. Never. Shant. The PDF download will always be here. It gives people the chance to read FCM when they’re supposed to be working and without the need to download the PDF. Productivity around the world can grind to a complete halt all thanks to FCM and Issuu. The Issuu stats are:

Good to see you’re giving us five stars. That makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Although some more thumbs up and shares would be nice. Hint hint.  :)

Ubuntu Software Centre

While it can take anything up to two weeks to appear in the Ubuntu Software Centre it’s still a pretty popular place for downloads:

Google Currents

Last, but not least, is Google Currents. While it’s not as popular as the other places it’s still a handy portable edition of FCM that doesn’t take much work to get going. Unlike Jens having to hand code the EPUB edition.

That 491 may not seem like much, but it helps promote FCM as we don’t show up in the Google Currents catalogue until we reach over 200 subscribers.

Conclusion

If we go conservative and use the 14k from the main site, over 1k reads on Issuu, 1.5k downloads from the USC, and nearly 500 readers on Google Currents… that’s not bad at all! Considering it’s only been out for roughly four weeks. Also, this does not take into account the many translations of FCM, or the EPUB edition.

Bear in mind that some issues have been online for longer and have far more downloads. FCM#61, for example, has had over 6,000 downloads in the USC alone. Older issues on Google Currents have almost 1,000 subscribers, and issues in the 50’s range are showing as having 25k page views on the main site.
