Mozilla released the Firefox 50.1.0 web browser a couple of days ago, and it looks like they patched a total of 13 security vulnerabilities, which could have been used by an attacker to crash the application or run programs as your login if the users were to open a malicious website.
These multiple security issues affect all the supported Ubuntu Linux operating systems, including Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak), Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus), Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr), and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin), as well as its official derivatives, such as Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, Lubuntu, etc.
Canonical urges users of the popular Linux OS to update the Mozilla Firefox packages as soon as possible. Firefox 50.1.0 is now available in the stable software repositories of the Ubuntu versions mentioned above, so make sure that you run a full system update to install it.
