Enjoyed the media player reviews, but after you talked about Banshee search functions (which I have had an issue with, too) I did a bit of digging. Turns out, if you click on the magnifying glass you can choose your search method – which includes ‘genre’…

I use Banshee exclusively now (10.04 LTS) – it handles my large library well.
